Welcome to our Hands in Clay Workshops — a year-long journey of creative, grounding sessions for adults and young makers. Across our three inspiring locations, with The Yass Visual Arts Society in the country town of Yass, The Malbon in Bungendore, and Gumtree Wellness Studio in Murrumbateman — we offer a variety of workshop series to explore the endless possibilities of clay.
From the garden-inspired Songs of the Garden series to the floral textures explored in the Whispers of Wildflowers series, and the mindful, grounding forms of the Grounded in Clay series, each collection unfolds through a number of workshops released gradually throughout the year.
Each session gently guides you through hand-building, shaping, and surface techniques. Whether you’re a beginner or a returning maker, our workshops offer a mindful escape — a chance to slow down, connect with clay, and create pieces that are both functional and beautiful.
Join us throughout the year as each series evolves, inviting you back to get your hands dirty and take home creations made with care, intention, and joy.

Grounded in Texture Bowls
Gumtree Wellness, Murrumbateman
Saturday 24th October 2-4pm
Come slow down, get your hands into clay, and create a set of three small textural bowls, each with its own character and personality.
In this hands-on workshop, you’ll explore simple hand-building techniques to shape your bowls, then play with texture using our collection of rollers, stamps and textural tools. From organic and subtle patterns to bold and playful impressions, there are plenty of ways to experiment and make each bowl uniquely yours.
You’ll also have the option to explore different foot styles, adding a little lift, shape and character to your bowls. Choose from simple, delicate feet or something more sculptural — the choice is yours.
No previous pottery experience is needed. This is a relaxed, creative space to connect with the clay, experiment with texture, and enjoy the grounding process of making with your hands.

Whispers of Wildflowers / Song Birds
The Malbon, Bungendore
Sunday 8th November 3-5.30pm
Join us for a fun and creative hands-on clay workshop where you’ll create two charming little songbirds, each with its own character and personality.
During the workshop, you’ll learn how to shape and build your two birds from clay and decorate them using a selection of beautiful flower and butterfly moulds. You can add your own textures, patterns and details to make each bird completely unique.
Once your birds are finished, they will be carefully dried and fired in the kiln using a beautiful selection of glazes.
No previous pottery experience is needed. This workshop is suitable for beginners and anyone who enjoys working creatively with clay.
All clay, moulds, glazes and firings are included in the workshop price.

The Heirloom Bauble Workshop

Create something truly special for your Christmas tree this year — beautiful handmade baubles designed to become treasured heirlooms for years to come.
In this festive, hands-on workshop, you’ll create your own unique Christmas baubles and decorate them using delicate moulds inspired by flowers, birds and butterflies. Choose your favourite combinations, play with placement and colour, and create pieces that reflect your own style and Christmas traditions.
Whether you’re making decorations for your own tree, creating a meaningful gift, or starting a collection of handmade ornaments to pass down through your family, this workshop is all about slowing down, getting creative and enjoying the magic of making.
You’ll be guided through the process step by step, with plenty of opportunity to experiment and personalise your designs. No previous experience is necessary — just bring your creativity and your Christmas spirit!
We offer a selection of private workshop experiences for Yass and surrounding areas.
Each workshop is calm, hands-on, and tailored to your creative interests. Whether shared with friends or family, these small group sessions provide a relaxed space to explore clay, learn new skills, and create meaningful handmade pieces.
We supply all clay and tools for up to 12 guests, and can offer a local venue or bring the workshop to your home or work place. A minimum of 6 attendees applies.
Workshops run for approximately 2–3 hours, depending on your chosen pottery experience. You can add on a relaxed 30-minute morning or afternoon tea break, provided by you during the workshop to create a break or at the end.
All pieces are left overnight to dry and we will collect and bring back to our studio for final firings and glazing in a choice of colours.

Art of the Vase Workshop, a 3 hour hand building session focused on creating sculptural, functional vessels with flowing organic form in clay. $170 per person, ages 15 and over only
In this very special 2 hour workshop, you'll transform a wheel-thrown ceramic box, thoughtfully handcrafted by Danielle, into a beautiful blossom-inspired keepsake. Using our collection of clay flower moulds, you'll create and apply delicate floral details to the lid, building a soft, layered design. $155 per person, Ages 15 and over only
Lotus Candles Workshop, a 3 hour quiet, hands- on workshop where you create two lotus candle holders shaped slowly petal by petal, inviting you to pause and make something calm and considered. $160 per person, ages 15 and over only
