Abrial Vase

$350.00

Available at The Malbon in Bungendore

Abrial means to be open and to be protected

Abrial is a little different to our other vases with a narrow base and a wide rim. She is layered with a fine porcelain slip in various soft natural tones. Abrial is glazed on the inside with a soft neutral matt finish.

200 x 185mm / Stoneware

There are 7 pieces in this Collection by Helen created through the process of coil pottery.

Each piece is a celebration of the gentle beauty of the Australian tablelands and high country landscapes.

The layering of the slip over each piece reflects the process where the eucalyptus trees at Good Hope shed their bark, creating intricate, colourful patterns of stripes and texture on the trunk of the trees. This is a natural process of breakdown and renewal that represents growth and vitality.

The pieces Helen has created portray this process with the use of very fine porcelain slip overlayed on the vessels in varying natural tones and peeled back to create a flaking type texture.
